Miscellaneous Pics

Here's a few misc. pics of the kids I've taken this last week or so that I wanted to share.

Here's Lily doing some more tummy time. She's doing great holding her head and even rolled over yesterday for the first time (just so daddy could see before he left)! She rolled over three more times today too so I think she just may know what she's doing. At first I thought yesterday was an accidental rollover. Jake decided to pose next to her, but when I said "say cheese", he frowned. Silly boy.

Abby is really turning into Miss Independent and wants to dress her self now in the mornings. Although she hasn't quite figured out where everything goes.

We were playing with our water table this past week and of course we don't play beside the table, but rather IN the table. When Jake decided to get out though, Abby tipped over and landed right against the tree. She was stuck and couldn't budge, but I had to snap a pic before helping her up of course. And note her new ORANGE swimsuit. She picked it out all by herself.

I love this pic of Jake sitting so solemnly by the tree.

This was actually taken last month, but it's a fun picture. I was taking the trash out in the kitchen, but before I was able to put a new trash bag in the canister, the kids decided to take it for a spin! They had such a fun time with the trash can. I know all the germs...I'm just building their immune system.

Abby's Antics

Abby is the talker of the family and she says the funniest things every day. I'm amazed at the stories she tells, the attitude she can have, and the sincere concern she displays for others at times. She's also 2 going on 16! The other morning I was coloring with the twins while Lily was napping. John was working from home that morning and was back in the office. Abby was trying to color with 20 colors in her hands and having a little difficulty. I told her it would be easier to color with one crayon at a time vs. all of them. "Okay mom", was her response (said with a bit of an "I know" attitude). I hear John cracking up in the office. Yes, we are already transitioning from "mommy" to "mom". How sad!!! She still says mommy about half the time, the other half, it's just mom.
She also has to know what's going on at all times and loves to ask "What are you doing name?". She'll continue to ask this same question over and over too. I fear the "Why?" stage. She must keep tabs on Jake at all times and continually asks of his whereabouts. Once she finds him, she asks him what he's doing.
If someone is hurt or in trouble, she immediately runs to the rescue, "Don't worry name, I'll save you!". If it's something she can't do, she'll pull me into things and say "Don't worry, mom will help you.".
Penguin is her best friend and finally has a name..."Macky". This is short for macaroni penguins, a type of penguin she learned about on Diego. Smart girl, huh. She holds his hand (wing) and takes him swinging, sliding, out to eat, she reads to him, etc. He even tells her stuff and plays with her. He loves to tickler her ear too (don't know where she got this, but Macky tickles her ear all the time).
Some of her other favorite phrases are "Awesome mom", "excuse me" (which she shouts out at innocent bystanders when we're at the store), "Look at me!", and "Thanks mom". Her favorite song at the moment is "Twinkle, Twinkle", which she sings all the time.
She's obsessed with jumping and told us a story yesterday about how all the cars were jumping on the ground as we were driving to the bounce house. When it was raining the other night, she said we needed to get an umbrella and hat so we could go outside. The girl doesn't own rain gear, but she knows we need it somehow.
I need to get a tape recorder and tape all of her sayings for everyone to hear (and just for me to hang on to). Every time I pull the video camera out she focuses on that. Oh well. I love Abby and the smiles she puts on my face!

Soy-free

It's taken us two years to get to this point, but Jake is now on MILK! YEAH! We tried after he turned two, but he still had issues. This weekend we ran out of soy and I was too lazy to go out to the garage and get another carton so I just filled his cup up with regular milk. It's only been three days, but so far, no issues!
Too bad I have to drink soy for Lily. I've tried adding milk back into my diet, but she has issues within 4 or 5 hours of nursing after I have milk. I'm just hoping she won't have issues with milk once she's weened!

Pics of Lily

And some more pics of Lily from this weekend. She of course couldn't partake in the sprinkler fun or truly appreciate the ladybug, but she adores her brother and sister and loves to smile. She's also starting to like tummy time and will now lay there sucking her hand most of the time. I have to leave her there 20 minutes or so just so she'll start pushing up on her hands.
Jake loves his little sis and looks out for her all the time. He loves taking care of her and holding her too. When I load everyone in the car, he cries if he can't help carry her car seat. I guess he's afraid I'll forget her somewhere! He's been really great and only once has he not taken good care of his sister (this past week he decided to see what would happen when he threw a shoe at her face...she screamed and he got put in time out).
Abby ignores Lily most of the time but this time she said she wanted to hold Lily. However, once I put her in her lap, she decided it wasn't really fun and immediately said "No want the baby." Oh well, we're starting early with the sister rivalry.
And yes, she's getting big...Lily is about 13.5 pounds now and really should be in the next size clothes, but I haven't dug those out yet. They are in her closet in a big bag, just need to go through them and wash them. :-) She also teases me with sleeping through the night (11 hours) about once every 10 days or so, but she's not bad the rest of the time. She usually only wakes once at night around 2:30ish and if she's gotten off her schedule a bit during the day and missed a feeding, she'll wake up 2x, but she drifts back to sleep so easily!

A Wet Weekend

Saturday afternoon the kids and I went to play outside while John went to get his truck inspected. As I was sitting there, I was thinking about how hot it's already getting and fearing for a long hot summer. I then suddenly decided to drag out our sprinkler that Grammie got us last year, and the kids swimsuits. These are last years swimsuits and while the bottoms fit just fine, the tops had started to get a little snug, especially on Abby. Nevertheless, they served their purpose just fine.
Once I hooked everything up and turned the water on, the kids squealed with excitement and started running and playing in the water.

After about 30 minutes though, the kids started to get cold (especially when the shade of the fence fell over our sprinkler as the sun set). So I suggested they run around with their mowers to warm up a bit. They quickly ran to get their mowers, but...

...they ran straight into the sprinklers with their mowers! Totally defeating the purpose! They were both little ice cubes by the end of our time and would stand there shaking, but would not get out of the water. I finally turned the water off and brought them inside to warm up.

Ladybugs!

My kids LOVE bugs! On Saturday we were playing outside and while I was pushing the kids on the swings I saw a ladybug below. I pointed it out and everyone quickly jumped to the ground to look at and play with the ladybug (the thing was super hard to get pics of). The kids loved to let it crawl on their finger and look at it. It wouldn't stay on them too long before flying back to the grass. Then we'd hunt for it again. I kept thinking they would squish it on accident, but the ladybug lived. :-)
