Got Words?

I think we do! I think Lily has said a few things now. This past week she's picked up on the animal sounds for a pig, sheep and cow. I would say the sound as I handed her the animal and now she tries to say them as she plays with her animals. It's very cute. I also think she's saying "this" and starting the phase of asking what everything is. It's also not uncommon for me to take a picture here or there, ha, and I swear the other week when I said "cheese" as I took a pic of her she said it back. Cheese would be her offical first word!!

What does an almost 3 year old wear for class pics?

Well, the twins had their class pictures on Wednesday this week so on Tuesday afternoon Abby picked out what she wanted to wear....
Don't worry, I didn't actually let her wear this, but she and Jake had fun running up and down the hallway as "Super Bunny!". Lily had fun just watching the twins run around.

Love Bugs

Abby was so excited this year for Valentine's Day. She watched Daddy give me my flowers and then quickly asked if he got her a valentine too. Daddy did awesome and surprised her with her very own roses, balloons, and M&M's. Jake devoured the M&M's and the balloons quickly became jousting swords. Abby was SO proud of her roses. She carried them around all day and thanked daddy every 5 minutes.

Daddy's Girls
Jake wouldn't stop eating M&M's for the pic, lol.
My flowers :-)

A Snowy Blizzard - Day 2

It didn't snow anymore on Friday this past week, but we had a foot of snow to play with. All the schools were closed, including ours and Daddy decided to work from home (yea!). So after breakfast, we headed back out once again to play in the snow. (since there were so many pics, I made them small, but you can click on them to enlarge when viewing on the blog website)
Our house has never seen this much snow! This was a once in a lifetime shot :-)

Daddy - the SERIOUS snowman builder. Abby was happy to build a snowman for third time though. Jake helped a bit, but decided pegging Daddy on the head with snowballs was much more fun!
Abby finally gets in on the action and throws a giant snowball at Daddy. Such fun!
Daddy was taking too long (such a perfectionist!) and the kids got bored with the snowman so they started swinging and running around the yard instead.
Love this one of Jake...look at those legs...he had such speed going down the slick slide!

Ah, nearing the end...Abby decides to come back and help...and add her own finishing touches. A snow puppy!

I didn't know anything about making snow ice cream; I just had my kids eat the snow straight from the backyard! But now I have the recipe next time we get a foot of snow, lol.

Lily wasn't too sure what to make of the snow, she just sat there looking around for the longest time, but I finally got her to crack a smile.
The finished product...

A Snowy Blizzard - Day 1

As you know, we got record snow this past week. We received about a foot of snow in one day and it was wonderful. It snowed all day Thursday and I was glad the kids didn't have school that day so we could play in the snow. It started snowing early in the morning so by the time the kids got up at 7, there was already a blanket of snow on the ground. I had the windows open when they walked in the kitchen and they immediately noticed the snow. It was tough getting them to eat breakfast, but they finally did and we waited for the sun to come up so we could enjoy the snow.
Finally, SNOW!
Whee! The kids loved sliding down into the snow. And Abby was the lucky one to go first so she got to clear the way.
Jake was all about throwing snowballs.
Yes that's a snowball mid-air heading for Abby.
Abby wanted to make her first snowman.
Watch out Abby!
She caught a snowflake! And I caught it on camera!!
Awe, teamwork.
No Jake!!
Uh oh.
Rebuilding after nap time. Fresh snow helped us build snowman #2.
My angels...
Abby made several snow angels, but they were all headless...she wouldn't lay her head in the snow as she make the angels b/c she wanted to watch herself make the angel in the snow. Silly girl!

Lily's on the Move!

Yay! Lily's on the move! At 10-1/2 months she finally took her first crawl step. She's been in PT for a month now and her therapist is so proud of her. When we first started Lily was terrified to put any weight on her hands, getting her on all fours was impossible. But she quickly learned it was okay. She slowly put her weight on her arms, then began rocking on all fours. Last week she finally crawled, "froggie style". She would move her hands forward then kinda hop with both legs at the same time. Within 3 or 4 days she had the crawling thing down. Now all of Jake and Abby's toys are fair game. She loves their stuff so much more!
We're still working on rolling over (she's stuck on her back :-) and working with her to build up her leg muscles so she can put weight on them and stand. She is continuing to hold her little right foot out but the therapist recommended getting a pair of hard soled shoes for her to wear just when we're practicing to help her stand flat footed with both feet.

Jamming out. Everyone still loves this toy and it's now becoming one of Lily's favorites.

Getting all Dressed Up

The kids are really into dressing up and what's more fun than Mommy and Daddy's closet? They love going in there and trying on every shoe and wearing t-shirts as dresses. They then dance about and say they are going to a party. They have so much fun. Now if they would just put everything back on the hangers and the shoes back in their place we'd be set.
Um, these boots are a little big.
Look at me, look at me!
Hmmm...this photo will haunt Jake in future years. Maybe one for the yearbook?
