Happy Valentine's Day

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's day yesterday! Since it was a Monday, we took it easy, but the kids had fun getting ready for their parties at school and we had fun as a family when John got home. He walked in with flowers and wine for me and a cute stuffed giraffe for Lily. I had some new books for the twins that I had gotten at Abby's book fair at school that morning and they each got a new game for their Leapster. The twins sat on those games all night once they got them. They didn't even want to take a bath, lol.
Here are a few shots of the pre-Vday festivities.
Cookies for the kids' teachers - even had a few left for us :-)
Valentine's from the kids for their classmates. We even figured out a way to work in Abby's request of a dinosaur for the little gifts.
Abby made a bag at school for her cards, but Jake was asked to make something at home and bring it in so this is what we did. It was a lot of fun to make and while I did most of it, he stamped it and came up with the "suitcase" idea (it's supposed to look like those old fabric suitcases, just valentiney), it even opens with hinges so you can get the cards out. And the best part...we used stuff we had at the house! I wrapped it with an old Whole Foods paper bag, and used the handle from the bag as the handle for the suitcase. Of course I have a ton of paints and stamps. I did have to buy ribbon, but used a couple of buttons from my "jar of buttons" - you know the ones you get with your clothes, lol.

The Beggining of Icemeggedon

Everyone knows about our giant ice storm that hit last week, and so with a week stuck indoors that meant we did a lot of crafts, our Valentine's cards, movies and pretend play. I am out of so many craft supplies (and paint colors!) and unfortunately the stores aren't stocked back up yet. Hopefully they will be soon though!
Abby and Jake finally paint with a purpose. Jake is doing an ocean/beach theme and Abby is doing a slide on a playground. It actually looks like what they said they drew too :-)
Lily painted her nails and lips, such my girly girl! The other day she wanted to wear 3 bows! I can't get her sister to even wear 1, lol.

Static Electricity!

In between our snow days, we had a few 70 degree days and so we pulled the bounce house out and let the kids go crazy for a few days, knowing we'd be back indoors soon enough. The girls were cracking me up though with the static. It was driving Lily crazy though :-).

January Snow

Our first snow of the year. It didn't last long and Lily was still sick so she just watched from the window, but the twins had a blast playing in the white stuff.
Yum...snow!
Snowball fights!
Jake even tried to get me :-)
My little angels.
Abby's angels are always headless...she wants to watch her hands and feet move to make the angel.
Jake cleans the patio off...
while Abby cleans the slide off :-)
Lily watching from the window :-(
Silly kids. Love them so much though.
This is how Daddy does breakfast. A plate of snow with a little sugar. Abby was in HEAVEN!
Poor Lily :-(

Our Final Christmas!

Our fifth and final Christmas was at my mom's the Wednesday following the big day. My sisters kids were all back home and we had to get our Christmas in before Mom & Dad left for their big cruise. The kids had a blast with all their cousins, despite Lily's fever. :-(
