I hope everyone had a great Valentine's day yesterday! Since it was a Monday, we took it easy, but the kids had fun getting ready for their parties at school and we had fun as a family when John got home. He walked in with flowers and wine for me and a cute stuffed giraffe for Lily. I had some new books for the twins that I had gotten at Abby's book fair at school that morning and they each got a new game for their Leapster. The twins sat on those games all night once they got them. They didn't even want to take a bath, lol.
Here are a few shots of the pre-Vday festivities.
Cookies for the kids' teachers - even had a few left for us :-)
Valentine's from the kids for their classmates. We even figured out a way to work in Abby's request of a dinosaur for the little gifts.
Abby made a bag at school for her cards, but Jake was asked to make something at home and bring it in so this is what we did. It was a lot of fun to make and while I did most of it, he stamped it and came up with the "suitcase" idea (it's supposed to look like those old fabric suitcases, just valentiney), it even opens with hinges so you can get the cards out. And the best part...we used stuff we had at the house! I wrapped it with an old Whole Foods paper bag, and used the handle from the bag as the handle for the suitcase. Of course I have a ton of paints and stamps. I did have to buy ribbon, but used a couple of buttons from my "jar of buttons" - you know the ones you get with your clothes, lol.
