Today is our 11 year anniversary. Can you believe we've been married 11 years?!? It sounds so long. John had a few surprises up his sleeve for today, but we had to post-pone those till another day. Friday night when he got home he opened the cabinet under our kitchen sink to throw some trash away only to find a cabinet full of water. A little more investigating and we found a leak in our garbage disposal. He unhooked everything Friday night, did some research on it and found out ours actually lasted a bit longer than most and it was time to buy a new one. This morning he ran out to Lowes and picked up a new garbage disposal and worked on installing it all morning. He finished around 11 or so and I have to say it was our easiest home improvement project ever. We didn't have to call the professionals in, there was no yelling at any point and we didn't have to stop and run to the store for anything. I was very proud and impressed!
This is only one of the reasons I feel lucky to be married to John. He has always done a good job of "taking care of me" and that's actually one of the reasons I married him. I knew when I first met him that he'd be able to do that (and that's not an easy task sometimes!). He works extremely hard to take care of me and the kids and tries to give us everything we want. Sometimes he's a bit stubborn, but everything he does, he does with me and the kids in mind and I love him for that. I can't believe it's been 11 years and I can't imagine my life without my dear husband. I am really looking forward to the next 11 years and see where our adventures take us. I love you honey!!

Gymboree Social
Last week PAMOM held a free play at Gymboree. I love the gym socials and so I quickly reserved our spot at this social (only 20 kids max!). It was a great hour to just let them run, climb, jump and play. They love the gym and really miss their weekly play time (I stopped going this month and plan to take next month off too. I'll have to figure out how to pick this up again in May with three in tow). They had a blast and really didn't want to go home. The only reason I got them out of there was the fact it was dinner time and they were hungry.
The trampoline is always popular with my guys. They actually don't even need a trampoline. They just love to jump, anywhere, anytime.
The lady at Gymboree "tried" to take all the kids through an obstacle course, but Jake was the only one up for the challenge.
Jake is a bubble fanatic!
Our 2 Year Check-Up
Well, we had our 2 year old check-up today. I can't believe they'll be two next week!!! It feels like yesterday that we were watching every ounce they drank and getting up to feed every 3 hours. I know we get to start that all over again next week and I'm sure when I get home they'll seem so "big" compared to the new baby.
No big news to share from the check-up this morning. Everyone is doing fine. Abby's coming in at a whopping 25.2 pounds and 34.5" tall and Jake is tipping the scales at 22.4 pounds (yeah!!!) and 33" tall. Jake's still in the 3rd percent for weight, but the pedi said he's continuing to grow normal on his chart and hasn't dipped or stalled and that's what he goes by. He's assuming he's just a late bloomer and will probably shoot up when he's older. I did ask about his height though as I've heard you're supposed to double their height at 2 for their adult height (give or take 3 inches). Well 33" would only put Jake at 5'6" - 5'9". Not very tall for a guy and considering mine and John's height. Our pedi laughed and said there's no science to that myth at all.
Abby's also doing great in language and talked a bunch for the doctor today (mainly saying "bye, bye" and "all-done"). She actually charted at over 3 years for skills on the worksheet they make you fill out. Although I'm not sure those are super accurate. Jake was right on track for his age, but he was a little concerned about the understandability (is this a word?) of his words. He passed his hearing test with flying colors and is speaking more and more, but you can't understand what he says most of the time. He said if he didn't improve in another month or two he wanted to get him checked out again by ECI and get him into speech therapy. Ugh! I thought we were through with them! I may see if there are other options as I really didn't feel we got much this last time around with them (although they were great with Abby). He said we should really be able to understand about 50% of what he says, and we're probably only at about 5 or 10% without context (in context I can usually figure out what he's saying about 50% of the time, maybe a bit more).
The pedi also put my mind at ease with where we are knowing our ABCs/123s. We know some and we're starting to understand them much better than even 2 weeks ago, but we still can't count past 2 (although I think Abby's on the verge of counting to 5) and we can't recite all of our ABCs yet. Now he said if we were 4 and didn't know these, he'd be worried, but not at two. Thank goodness!!

Music Genius?
We have a little music genius on our hands! Both the kids love music, always have and so we picked them up a Ukulele when we were in Hawaii last summer. Anyway, it's out today and so Abby was strumming away as normal. Jake came running around the corner, tripped on something and fell. He was fine, but started fussing a bit and wanted to be held. Abby continued to play her song and started singing "Jake fell down, He started crying, He's okay". She wrote and composed her first song before she was two!!!! Just had to brag. I wish I could have gotten it on video but it happened very fast and when I pull that thing out they always stop whatever I'm trying to record anyway.

Craft Time
I try to do crafts with the kids at least once a week. We typically color everyday, but I try to break out the other goods at least once a week to let them have some fun. Today we were working on the letter "D" and so we did a little craft session around that. They still need CLOSE supervision during craft time so I didn't get any pictures of them doing the craft, just the finished product. Maybe we'll do it one time on a weekend when John and photograph us during our adventure.
Today, we colored a big letter "D" with orange and yellow crayons (we got to work on colors in addition to the letter "D" :-). Then I cut the letter out and we glued orange and yellow feathers on the backside to make a duck (since it starts with a "D" :-). Jake did really good this time gluing the feathers down. I put the glue on the letter and did the first feather. He then grabbed each feather and said "stick" as he stuck it on the paper. Although after he glued everything down he tried to pull it all back up to do it over again. Abby has issues with the feathers. She's a big texture girl with everything from clothes, to food, to toys. And she doesn't like the texture of the feathers at all. I glued her first feather down and she screamed "No!", she didn't like those things on her letter at all. So I ended up gluing hers down while she chewed on the foam beak. Then we glued her beak down. She was so over the craft once the feathers came out, but I know she'll be back into it and proud of her little "D" duck when she gets up from nap. They love feeling the feathers and stuff on their crafts once they're all glued down and dried.
PAMOM Scrapbook
So today I'm taking a break. I've been working like crazy on the PAMOM scrapbook; trying to get it as complete as possible before the 16th (when our new little one arrives). I know I won't get anything done for a bit after she arrives and the book has to be done and printed by late April so we can have it read for the TMOM convention. I'm almost done actually. The book only goes through February 09 and I just have February left to do. Well, I also have a few "family" pages such as Mother's/Father's Day, Playgroups and New Moms with their babies. I also need to design the cover. I've been working on it everyday during naptime and haven't had much time left to do anything else. It's been crazy! So, today I decided to take a break and start fresh tomorrow. My goal is to get February done by Friday and then I'll have next week to work on the rest. In April, I'll proof it and send it off to print!!!!
