I try to do crafts with the kids at least once a week. We typically color everyday, but I try to break out the other goods at least once a week to let them have some fun. Today we were working on the letter "D" and so we did a little craft session around that. They still need CLOSE supervision during craft time so I didn't get any pictures of them doing the craft, just the finished product. Maybe we'll do it one time on a weekend when John and photograph us during our adventure.
Today, we colored a big letter "D" with orange and yellow crayons (we got to work on colors in addition to the letter "D" :-). Then I cut the letter out and we glued orange and yellow feathers on the backside to make a duck (since it starts with a "D" :-). Jake did really good this time gluing the feathers down. I put the glue on the letter and did the first feather. He then grabbed each feather and said "stick" as he stuck it on the paper. Although after he glued everything down he tried to pull it all back up to do it over again. Abby has issues with the feathers. She's a big texture girl with everything from clothes, to food, to toys. And she doesn't like the texture of the feathers at all. I glued her first feather down and she screamed "No!", she didn't like those things on her letter at all. So I ended up gluing hers down while she chewed on the foam beak. Then we glued her beak down. She was so over the craft once the feathers came out, but I know she'll be back into it and proud of her little "D" duck when she gets up from nap. They love feeling the feathers and stuff on their crafts once they're all glued down and dried.
