At this point in time, Jake's ultimate goal in life is to be a chef. We'll see how long it lasts, but for now that's all he wants to be. I can't even make a pitcher of lemonade without him hearing me in the kitchen and running in to help. He can start cooking classes at 4 (yes I've already checked them out) so if he still has a strong passion to be in the kitchen in another 2 years, I'll enroll him in his first cooking class :-), but for now, he helps me make dinner.
The other night I was making dinner and he really wanted to help. I was making tortellini and sauteing asparagus; both on the stove, so he couldn't help. But I decided to get him his own pan and the ends of the asparagus I had cut off. He was quite happy with that and cooked away on the floor. However, he quickly wanted to move his pan to the stove. I set him up on the counter and let him "cook" on the counter.
Once dinner was finished, I began plating everyone's food and he quickly helped serve his asparagus to everyone as well.
