House Rules

A few weeks ago, the kids learned about safety and rules and MDO. So, I got the idea to bring that home and establish house rules. Obviously we have had rules before now, but I wanted to put a few on paper for them to follow in hopes they would actually follow them at school (HA!).
I heard you should only have 1 rule per age so for now, we only have 2 rules, but they are very good rules. When they got up from nap one day, we reviewed the rules together and posted them on the wall (at eye level with the kids) as a reminder.
The kids know the rules, but don't always follow them. So when they break the rules, they get a timeout in the corner. Abby is also a good enforcer of the rules (not necessarily a good follower) and lets me know when Jake breaks the rules. It's easier for them to follow the second rule since it's a bit more concrete, but I think we're off to a good start.
A day or two after we posted the rules, I caught Jake going over the rules with "Turtle".

Ohh, that looks like a good idea! I like those two rules. I honestly think those two might be all you REALLY need for the next 16 years! haha....oh, ok, so maybe a few more. But seriously, if those two work then it sure eliminates a lot of other rules : ) Nice job Wendy...love the artwork! Oh, and I love the new background on your blog-very autumny.
